The Fellowship of Merry Christian promotes this Sunday, usually during the Easter season, as a day for laughter, joy, and merriment. The Sunday takes its cues from an earlier Orthodox church tradition known as Bright Week with a Bright Sunday. Churches actively encouraged the faithful to be merry and celebrate the miracle of Christ’s Resurrection.
