The Heart of Mennonite Worship: Five Vital Rhythms

Enter the sanctuary of any congregation on Sunday morning and you’ll see people at worship. We sing, we pray, we listen to the Word, and we break bread together. Worship, and especially singing together, is our common ground. It shapes our faith in profound ways.

Even though the exact ways we worship differ from one region or one cultural group to another, we share common understandings as followers of Jesus that unite us and shape our worship.

What kind of worship resources are needed for Mennonite congregations in the future? In particular, how is music used in worship? Members of the Bi-National Worship Council need your help in answering these questions.

The Heart of Mennonite Worship: Five Vital Rhythms is a 4-session study guide that will help your congregation think more deeply about worship. We strongly encourage you to take up this study sometime between September 2011 and April 2012.

In addition, we need your help to shape a future song collection for the Mennonite Church. Please read about the song survey at the back of the study guide, then go here to complete the survey.

This is a great opportunity for your congregation to contribute song ideas for a future song collection—whether a hymnal, PowerPoint files, or whatever other formats emerge—for the Mennonite Church.
