Longest Night

The longest hours of darkness marking the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere, December 21. Longest night worship or prayer services acknowledge the realities of sadness, grief, and depression that can be intensified in periods of shorter daylight hours, longer nighttime hours, and impending Christmas celebrations with family or friends that could be difficult. The services allow worshipers to rest with all of their feelings and fears in the presence and care of God.
